India's Women Beat South Korea for a First-Ever Team Recurve Archery Gold

India's women's recurve team won gold at the Asian Games on Friday, beating South Korea in the final to add a fourth team archery title at this year's Games. Ankita Bhakat, Kirti Sharma and Kumkum Mohod took down a South Korean side that has traditionally dominated recurve archery, with China settling for bronze.

It's a historic result for India in a discipline where the country's success has come almost entirely through compound archery rather than recurve. The win takes India's archery tally at these Games to four golds — alongside the men's team compound, women's team compound and mixed team compound titles — against a single bronze in the men's individual compound. The individual recurve events are still to be decided, with finals scheduled for Saturday, the last day of the archery competition.

The gold is India's 11th of the Games, moving the country to 23 silver and 33 bronze for 67 medals in total, 7th on the overall table.
