Djokovic Wins Seventh China Open Title as De Minaur Retires

Novak Djokovic won the China Open in Beijing on Tuesday for a seventh time, after Alex de Minaur retired injured from the final. It is his 102nd tour-level title.

Djokovic had taken the first set 7-6(3) and led 1-0 in the second when de Minaur, who had received treatment earlier, could not continue.

The run to the final included a quarter-final win over Alexander Zverev. Daniil Medvedev was then defaulted from the semi-final, with Djokovic leading 7-5, 5-3, after hitting a spectator with the ball.

At 39, Djokovic is now one title short of Roger Federer's 103, which is second on the all-time list behind Jimmy Connors' 109.

Djokovic is also entered at the Shanghai Masters, which starts on 7 October.
