Alcaraz Beats Lehecka to Retain Japan Open Title in Tokyo

Carlos Alcaraz successfully defended his Japan Open title in Tokyo on Tuesday, beating Jiri Lehecka 7-6, 6-4 in the final.

He held his nerve to take a tight first-set tie-break, then broke Lehecka in the second set to close out the match.

It is Alcaraz's first ATP title since February. Reports note he is the first man to win back-to-back Tokyo titles since Pete Sampras in 1993 and 1994.

Alcaraz is now in the field for the Shanghai Masters, which starts on 7 October.
