Jon Rahm will leave LIV Golf, his lawyer told a US bankruptcy court on Wednesday, after the two-time major champion decided the league's proposed "LIV 2.0" terms were unacceptable.
Lawyer John Beck told a New Jersey judge, at a hearing on the league's Chapter 11 filing, that Rahm "will not be participating going forward in LIV 2.0".
Rahm is owed more than $100 million over the remaining years of his contract, according to reports. Beck said the two sides are in "advanced discussions" on a consensual separation, which they hope to complete by 15 October.
The exit is a major blow to LIV, which is restructuring after the Saudi Public Investment Fund withdrew its financial backing.
