India Face Uruguay in Kolkata After Brazil Defeat

India host two-time World Cup winners Uruguay in a friendly at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Tuesday, with kick-off listed for 7:30 PM IST. It is the last of three high-profile matches India are playing this international window, at the same venue where they lost 4-0 to Brazil on Saturday.

The visitors arrive with a strong squad: Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde, Darwin Núñez and defenders Ronald Araújo and José María Giménez are among the names called up. Uruguay, ranked 20th in the world, are also in a period of change, with Diego Forlán now in charge of the national team following Marcelo Bielsa's departure.

India started the window with a 1-1 draw against Panama in Bengaluru on 26 September, before facing Brazil, the highest-ranked side India have played since the FIFA rankings began. Against Uruguay they get another test against a former world champion in front of what is expected to be another big Kolkata crowd.
