Matt Renshaw made 190 as Australia were bowled out for 390 on the second day of the first Test against South Africa at Kingsmead in Durban. South Africa lost one wicket before stumps and are 27/1 after 8.4 overs, still 363 runs behind.

Renshaw resumed on 46 and faced 397 balls, hitting 21 fours and a six, before he was caught by Aiden Markram off Simon Harmer. He added 144 to his overnight score and was the main reason Australia scored 203 more runs after being 187/6 at the end of Day 1.

Pat Cummins made 43 off 98 balls and Nathan Lyon 27 off 92, which gave Renshaw the support he needed over a long second day. Mitchell Starc made 6 and Josh Hazlewood finished unbeaten on 5.

Wiaan Mulder was the best South African bowler, with 4 for 68 from 27 overs. Marco Jansen took 3 for 68 from 31 overs, nine of them maidens, and Anrich Nortje had 2 for 88. Harmer took 1 for 68 from 28.2 overs and Keshav Maharaj went wicketless in 20 overs for 75.

South Africa's reply lost Ryan Rickelton for a duck, caught by Beau Webster off Hazlewood. Markram is unbeaten on 15 off 27 balls and David Bedingham on 12 off 22, with Starc and Hazlewood bowling four overs each.

Play on Day 3 starts at 1:00 PM IST on Sunday. South Africa need to reach 191 to avoid the follow-on, which is 164 more runs.
