India take a 1-0 lead into the second T20I against West Indies at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi on Friday, with the first ball at 7:00 PM IST.
The lead came from an eight-wicket win in Lucknow on Tuesday. Shreyas Iyer hit an unbeaten 102 off 43 balls, his maiden T20I century, as India chased down 172 with 32 balls to spare after West Indies were bowled out for 171.
West Indies will take some positives from that match. Sherfane Rutherford scored 56 off 34 balls and Shai Hope made 52 off 37, while debutant Naman Dhir took 3 for 31 for India. India had already won the ODI series 2-1, although West Indies chased down 352 in the third ODI, with Hope finishing on 162 not out.
Both teams reached Ranchi on Wednesday and trained at the stadium on Thursday. Demand for tickets has been strong in the city of former India captain MS Dhoni: online tickets sold out in 17 minutes, and 8,033 were sold on the first day of counter sales, according to the Free Press Journal.
The series continues in Indore on Sunday 11 October, Hyderabad on Wednesday 14 October and Bengaluru on Saturday 17 October, all starting at 7:00 PM IST.
